We remember all of the prophets, from Biblical times to today, who stood up for the oppressed: those in the public sphere, and those who spoke truth in our own lives whom we remember now.
We never know when you will call us to witness to your love: when we can stand up for people left out in the cold, when we can visit those who are grieving or suffering, when we can speak up to someone who tells a racist joke, when we can bring healing in our prayers, when we can show wholeness to a broken world.
God, let us not be complacent thinking we have attained a society without oppression. Grant us your courage and strength to do your work, for you call each of us to a unique ministry, even the newly baptized have a call on his life to witness to your love. In the name of Christ, we give honor and thanks for those that have gone before us, and we pray for our prophets to come. In the name of Jesus we are bold to pray all of these things. Amen.
Special thanks to Rev. Mindi for much of these prayers.
