This Monday, I started the day in a Monday kind of mood. I didn't sleep well last night and have a full week ahead of me. Walking the few blocks to church, my head was a running list of things to do and people to call. Gosh, I am so busy.
I looked up and recognized a woman I know walking toward me on the sidewalk. She first came to our church through the FOCUS breakfast program and has known her share of struggles in life.
I said hello and tried to put on the best Monday smile I could muster. Barely did I get a greeting in than she started telling me about how blessed she was! She said how grateful she was to be able to have an opportunity to volunteer at a local organization and to reach out to a neighbor in need. All the while, a large smile adorned her face and a bright pink hat sat on her head.
I'm a pastor. You'd think I would know how to count my blessings and treat each day with thanksgiving for the gift that it is. Well, sometimes it takes a Monday blessing to help me truly see God's grace all around me.
A very blessed Monday to you all!
