Where have I been? I have been working on my coursework for my Doctor of Ministry program. Sounds like a bunch of reading and esoteric, theological musing, doesn't it? Au contraire, imaginary congregant. That's exactly what it is not.
We focus on ministry and on people, on the everyday situations that happen within a congregation and where we see God renewing and lifting us up.
So where do I see God's renewal at Westminster? Thank you for asking. I see it in our multicultural witness.
As Dr. King pointed out, 11 am is the most segregated hour of the week. While I understand that certain groups whose voices are not heard in mainstream culture would want a cultural haven of their own, I also see a radical conversion happening in historically white churches that embrace a call to multicultural witness.
Over the next few years, I will be working with a covenant group, leading change and, yes, reading and writing about our multicultural witness. Please join me in the journey of my own conversion and renewal.
