Through my partnerships, I have seen blessed examples of people who have been at this a while and know a thing or two about maneuvering Albany politics.
After years and even decades of disappointments, some people just keep going. Many of them form a protective shell of low expectations because of all the times they have fought so hard for something and lost. Some go one step further into cynicism about the political process and what is or is not likely to happen in New York State.
Enter the faith community. In the midst of an environment of cynicism, the greatest antidote to cynicism is a living hope. The faith community has hope in abundance.
When we build bridges with our sisters and brothers striving for worker justice or for an end to hunger, we proclaim hope together.
We have hope of broader rights.
We have hope of higher wages.
We have hope that no child NY State will go to bed hungry.
This is the hope we proclaim.
Now let's live like it's true.
