People of faith are used to looking at big picture, even if we still get caught up in details.
What is this life all about?
What matters most in my life?
What are we here for?
I know we all have a divine calling in this life is to make sure no one is hungry!
What's interesting is that we do not live in a world of scarcity, but one of abundance! There is more than enough food to go around and to feed everyone. Why do we keep believing we have to hoard resources to survive?
The Prophet Isaiah in the Hebrew Scriptures puts it this way:
“All of you who are thirsty, come to the water! Whoever has no money, come, buy food and eat! Without money, at no cost, buy wine and milk! Why spend money for what isn’t food, and your earnings for what doesn’t satisfy? Listen carefully to me and eat what is good; enjoy the richest of feasts.”
My prayer is that we believe in this feast instead of the lies of scarcity.
My prayer is that my son will ask me one day why we had to fight so hard to end hunger back in the old days.
My prayer tonight is that all of us come away with a divine spark of some way we can make a difference!
May it be so among us.
Amen!
